Digging, Digging, and More Digging....

A crew spent the entire day hand-digging trenches where the concrete footings and piers will be poured for our crawspace foundation.  Due to the significant slope of the lake lot, the back deck and covered porch will be elevated 5-6 feet from the ground level.  We will be in the trees...As a child, I always dreamed of having a nice treehouse...guess this is as close as I'll ever get!

We Have Lumber...

They started making deliveries today.  We had a huge flash flood storm last night (and hail).  Of course the storm came through just hours after they finished with the dirt work to form our house pad and form drainage routes.  I'm pretty sure that alot of our dirt ended up in the lake, but all is still good.  They should start forming for the foundation tomorrow.

The Official Start

We had our "pre-construction" closing at the bank this past Friday...and now it has all started!   They showed up this afternoon and started pushing over trees and pushing the dirt around to create the house pad.  There should be a few days of dirt work, then they will start on the foundation. 

Floor Plan

Here is the floor plan, although we have made a few modifications.  Primarily, the formal dining room will be walled up for our "Music Room/Library"...which can easily be converted to a 3rd bedroom if needed in the future.  We will have a screened porch off of the Master Bedroom and a covered porch off of the Guest Bedroom.  Of course, the HUGE Master Closet is MINE...ALL MINE!!!!

Getting Things Ready

Michael has started cutting trees, getting things ready for the builders to start.  A few more trees will need to be cut.  Hopefully, not too many or we won't be able to call the place "Oak Haven"!
